Highlights:
- During the substantial completion walk, the 500 linear foot mural wall (images cast into the wall face) was rejected due to unsatisfactory workmanship. After several renditions and reviews, Staff and Parks Department approved a cast stone alternative panel and authorized the contractor to proceed with the proposed remedy. The total rework, including cure time is anticipated to take 8 weeks finishing approximately mid-November.
- Coordination with the City's Urban Forester was done, and planning is scheduled to commence the week of September 21, 2020.
- The Signage vendor's staffing shortfall resulting from Covid-19 has slowed signage fabrication; current time frame is anticipated to be approximately 6 weeks and is expected to complete about November 16th.
- TxDOT has environmentally cleared the scope change to add connecting tie-ins omitted from the original project design. The contractor plans to initiate this work within the next two weeks upon approval of applicable change order for added work.
Upcoming Work:
- Contractor to place remaining trail amenities including picnic tables, trash bins, benches, shade structure, signage and water fountain.
- Staff is continuing to work with BDD4 to review erosion measures beneath the Kirby bridge.
- The contractor is to complete placement of the retaining wall murals along the trail edge and paint as selected by the Parks department. To ensure the safety of patrons utilizing the trail, Staff consulted with the Parks & Recreation Department and determined the best course of action is to withhold opening the trail to the public until all construction activities are and equipment has been removed, presently planned for the end of November.

Highlights:
- The NTP for this construction project was issued October 28, 2019
- A total of 4,340 L.F.; 100% of concrete has been placed on the trail.
- 94% of the contract schedule has elapsed with continuous construction efforts being made to finish the project on schedule as per contract guidelines.
- Staff worked with the Parks department and project Landscape Architect to finalize signage artwork.
- Hydromulching and Sod placement have been completed throughout trail.
- Landscaping including tree planting, shrubs and wildflower seeding is scheduled for completion.
- The contractor will perform site cleaning in preparation for the scheduled substantial walkthrough.
- Retaining wall materials arrived at site and contractor has started placement on trail path.
- Contractor has removed the temporary filter fabric fencing in preparation of site restoration.
- Fabrication on the decorative and informative trail signage has commenced but is slowed by 6 to 8 weeks due to limited staff in house as a result of the Covid-19 social distancing restrictions.

Highlights:
- The NTP for this construction project was issued October 28, 2019
- A total of 3,200 L.F.; approximately 73% of concrete has been placed on the trail. Remaining concrete pours will be scheduled once grounds are deemed dry enough got continued activity resulting from recent rainfalls.
- 60% of the contract schedule has elapsed with continuous construction efforts being made to finish the project on schedule as per contract guidelines.
- Change Order 1 is to revise unit pricing due to escalation between contract award and issuance of the notice to proceed is pending and discrepancy in bid quantities. Change order is expected to be net zero change due to concreted effort by the contractor and staff to value engineering some of items that did not impact the project. Examples of these items which include tree protection, as a result of BDD4 clearing the area, removal of construction exits, a negotiation of a unit price reduction for 6" and 8" concrete sidewalk and the reduction of amount of reinforced filter fabric fencing. The change order is a result of efforts to address a significant quantity discrepancy identified on the 8" sidewalk prior to the commencement of the project. The original contract showed a bid quantity of 14,938 sq. ft., and the construction plans call for placement of 19,390 sq. ft. of 8" sidewalk.
Upcoming Work: (2 week look ahead)
- Site preparation is ongoing with grading, forming and laying expansion joints on east of the trail. All other areas remain unsuitable to work due to recent rain days delays.
- The contractor has scheduled upcoming weekend work in order to remedy a delay in scheduled daily work due to continuous inclement weather.
- Staff worked with the City's Parks division to finalize text and artwork signage' fabrication to begin for decorative and informative trail signs.
- Pending weather, the project substantial completion date is April 25, 2020.
