Purpose
To ensure that planning and construction activities within the City of Pearland and its extra-territorial jurisdiction are in accordance with the city's standards, codes, and practices.

Services to the Community
The engineering division reviews plats, construction plans, drainage reports, traffic reports, and provides construction inspection services. The engineering division is also responsible for updating the city's design guidelines, standard details, specifications, and relevant ordinances. These ordinances include serving the community for floodplain administration, and implementing a stormwater management program.

Engineering and Public Works emergencies include but are not limited to:

traffic light out of service
stop sign pole down
manhole lid missing
debris in the road that is impeding traffic flow
impassable roads due to high water

Engineering Division

The Engineering division is responsible for ensuring the planning and construction activities within the City and its ETJ are in accordance with the City's Standards, Codes and Practices.

Traffic Operations

The Traffic division manages and enhances mobility throughout the city through continual evaluation and maintenance of the transportation infrastructure.

Stormwater Management

The Stormwater Management division is responsible for implementing and enforcing the City's Stormwater Management Plan to reduce pollution into the City's stormwater system.

Floodplain Management

The Floodplain Management division is responsible for regulating development within the City's Special Flood Hazard Areas in order to protect life and property from flood risks.
