Thank you for your interest in the Youth Cadets program. The following list contains the items needing to be turned in upon your application submission.

• A 250 to 300 word written or typed essay on the following topic.

  (a). Explain what type of motivation you believe will be needed to succeed in our program and how you plan to demonstrate that to us week in and week out

• A letter of recommendation written by an adult (non-family member).
• Oral board interview to be scheduled once application, essay and recommendation letter are received.

As per our SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) 202.00 EXPLORER MEMBERSHIP make sure that you meet the following criteria.

202.00    YOUTH CADETS MEMBERSHIP

202.01  YOUTH CADETS MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

• A.  Age limitations
• 1.  Minimum age
• a. Fourteen years of age and in the 9^th grade.
• 2.  Maximum age
• a  Cannot have reached their twenty-first birthday. 
• B.  Education
• 1. Currently enrolled at an accredited public or private school
• a . Must have good attendance
• 1. No history of unexcused absences
• b. Passing grades
• 1. “C” or higher checked periodically by the advisor
• 2.  High school graduate/attendee, or Acquired G.E.D.
• 1. Members that is actively attempting to acquire G.E.D. will have one year to do so after application is accepted
• C.  Criminal history
• 1.  No felony offenses
• 2.  No arrest or conviction for DWI or DUI.
• 3.  No arrests or convictions higher than Class C Misdemeanor
• 4.  No arrest or conviction for any offense involving moral turpitude.
• 5.  No arrest or conviction for any offense involving drugs or alcohol.
• 6.  The Post Committee will review offenses not covered on an individual basis. A determination of eligibility will be made at that time.
