Program Overview
Youth Cadets is a hands-on program open to young men and women who have completed the 8th grade (14) through 20 years old, interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system. Youth Cadets offers experiential learning with fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of youth.
Youth Cadets are instructed in a variety of police-related topics that include:
- Building Search
- Felony Traffic Stops
- Crime Scene Search
- Accident Investigation
- Traffic Stop
- Domestic Crisis Intervention
- Arrest and Search Techniques.
Youth Cadets also receive instruction in character building, self-motivation and confidence building.
Pearland Police Youth Cadets recruits young men and women in good standing in the community and in their school. Additional requirements include: good moral habits with no arrest or conviction records for serious offenses, a “C” average or better in school, and parental approval (for those under 18 years of age). Pearland Police Youth Cadets shall not deny membership to any individual based on race, creed, color, religion, sex, national origin or sexual preference.
