Parks & Recreation Volunteer Program reaches 12,500 service hours
The Parks & Recreation Department’s Volunteer Program has hit a milestone by recording more than 12,500 service hours since January 2013. The hours are an accumulation of service for Special Events, Athletics, Youth Development, Adaptive Recreation, Kidz Korner childcare and Knapp Activity Center.

Pearland is home to Colony for Mexican Free-tailed Bats
Did you know that Pearland is home to a maternal colony of Mexican Free-tailed Bats? Maternal colonies form every spring as they begin arriving in Texas from their over-wintering sites in Mexico to spend the summer and raise their offspring.

City receives state award for achievement in communications
The Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers recognized the City of Pearland with the 2017 TAMI Award for Best Media Relations in Texas. TAMI Awards, presented annually to select municipalities, are the highest statewide honor a City or County can achieve for its communication efforts. Contest entries are reviewed and scored by a panel of judges.
