Description:

This course is designed to teach new or experienced pilots best practices for deploying UAS platforms for public safety applications.  This course will teach basic, nationally accepted flight proficiencies standards in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology.  The course will progress to teach pilots how to search for people, basic mapping techniques, and night operations.

Day 1

  • Part 107 Refresher
  • UAS for Public Safety Applications
  • Platform Setup
  • Basic Flight Proficiencies
  • NIST Basic Open Lanes

Day 2

  • Basic Flight Proficiencies
  • Search for Person Techniques
  • Basic Mapping Techniques
  • Multiple UAS Deployment Coordination

Day 3

  • Large Scale Search for Person
  • Night Operations
  • Basic Night Flight Proficiencies
  • Search for Person at Night Proficiencies

 

Prerequisite: Current Part 107 Certified as of April 21st, 2021

 

Audience: All Public Safety Personnel

 

The participant will be required to bring the following:

  1. UAS Platform System
  2. Extra batteries
  3. Charging systems
  4. SD Cards
  5. Laptop

It is recommended the participant also bring:

  1. Canopies
  2. Sunscreen
  3. Water
  4. Snacks
