Description: 

Two week Police Motorcycle Operators Course for new and untrained police officers.

 

Objective:

Focusing on various practical exercises that stress low-speed maneuverability, evasion techniques and high-speed braking skills. Police Motorcycle Operator Training students spend much of the course in the saddle. Students practice practical exercises and receive riding instruction supplemented with classroom instruction and demonstrations of tactical techniques.

 

Course Purpose: 

This two-week intensive course is designed to improve officer safety and performance, while reducing agency liability and repair cost due to poor of untrained use of motorcycles in police operations. This course is designed for new and untrained police motorcycle officers, who seek to hone his/her skill, enhance safety on the road, and learn how to better control a police motorcycle when performing emergency maneuvers.  

 

Course Goal: 

Students are tested on the course and in the classroom. Students must successfully complete the testing process to complete this course. The written multiple-choice test focuses the student's understanding of the general principles of performance and operation; the riding test focuses on the student's mastery of training riding techniques. 

 

Students will receive 80 Hours of TCOLE credit.

 

Prerequisite:

Any Commissioned / Licensed Peace Officer

  • Must have a Motorcycle Class M License / Endorsement
  • Must have proof of insurance on the motorcycle to be used in the class

Requirements/Equipment:

  • Police Equipped Motorcycle
  • Helmet with neck strap
  • Note taking material
  • Rain Gear designed for riding a motorcycle
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  • Snack and Hydration Drinks (Water will be provided)
