Description

The purpose of the Intermediate Crisis Intervention Training course is to educate law enforcement officers about issues pertaining to crisis intervention techniques, especially in communicating with persons with a mental illness. 

This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements #1850

 

Prerequisite 

Any Commissioned / Licensed Peace Officer

Topics

  • Discuss the impetus for crisis intervention training and why it is so important to the law enforcement community.
  • Recognize the community mindset as it relates to the mentally ill’s relationship with law enforcement personnel
  • Explain Crisis Intervention’s role in Officer Safety
  • List four prominent categories of mental illness

Audience

  • Peace Officers working toward their intermediate proficiency certificate on or after April 1, 2018, and within 2 years of licensing date for those licensed on or after April 1, 2018.
