Description

The Intermediate Crime Scene Search Course is designed to provide additional information on this subject area. This course is one of the seven courses required for Intermediate certification. It is not meant to override department policy and current laws. This is a hands on working course. 

This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements #2106 

 

Prerequisite 

  • Any Commissioned / Licensed Peace Officer

  • Crime scene searches and legality
  • Phases of crime scene investigation
  • Crime scene documentation: photography and sketching
  • Identification, collection, and preservation of evidence
  • Collection, classification, and identification of fingerprints
  • Fingerprint processing
  • Investigative techniques for specific crime scene areas
  • Crime scene simulation
  • Field trips as available (Medical Examiner’s office, SHSU “Body Farm”)

Audience

  • Currently commissioned Texas peace officers
