The Pearland Police Department currently deploys five K9s that are utilized to enhance the Department’s efforts in crime prevention, narcotics detection, criminal apprehension, officer safety and service to the community.

The general duties include:

• criminal interdiction
• tracking/trailing suspects and/or lost persons
• criminal apprehensions
• evidence searches
• assist Patrol. CID, SIU, and outside agencies in searches

 The K9 Units also perform a variety of civic functions/presentations throughout the community.
