Yes. The Pearland Police Department responded to more than 7,000 false alarms in 2016. These calls represented almost 10% of our total call load. The response to false alarms increases the response times to actual emergencies by tying up essential personnel. Nationwide, approximately 99% of all burglar alarms police respond to are false.
Operation of an alarm system or fire alarm without a permit is an offense. Each day an alarm is operated without a permit shall constitute a separate offense.
The Alarm Ordinance covers all residential and business alarm systems within the city limits.
The fine structure for false alarms was developed by the City of Pearland and approved by Pearland City Council.
The cost to register your home alarm system is $15. The cost to register your commercial alarm system is varied based on the variety of system: Burglar is $30, Combination Burglar & Hold-Up/Panic is $40, and Fire is $20.
There are multiple ways to register, online at: alarms.pearlandtx.gov, in person at the Pearland Police Department or by mailing your registration and fee to the PPD at:

Pearland, TX 77581The permit information provides emergency information to first responders, allowing them to act in case of an actual emergency. Emergencies may include fire; burglary; or medical emergencies where contacting you through your alarm company may cost valuable time. Additionally, the City wants to substantially reduce the number of false alarms that emergency personnel responds to, thereby freeing up emergency personnel to respond to actual emergencies.
