Out of an abundance of caution and the evolving nature of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the City of Pearland has decided to postpone Paws in the Park until further notice.

City of Pearland Parks & Recreation is gearing up for the 26th annual Paws in the Park presented by VCA Westside Animal Hospital. The event kicks off Saturday morning with the  H-E-B Pet & Owner Fun Run.

Race Information

The Kids 1K, 5K and 3K will begin at 7:50 a.m., 8 a.m., and 8:15 a.m. consecutively. Participants of the Kids 1K and 3K may choose to race with or without their four-legged friends. In effort to maximize participant safety, pets are not allowed in the 5K. The 5K route race will take place on a certified course.

H-E-B Water stations are available at approximately each mile marker along the 5K route. Light refreshments, fruit, and water will be available in the H-E-B Race Hospitality before and after the race.

Race routes have been designed to navigate participants nearest to the PHS Stadium lots. If you are looking for the best location to cheer on runners, follow directions for PHS parking.

Medical personnel and staff will be present along the 5K route.

The time limit for completing the 5K is 60 minutes after the 8:00 a.m. race start. Participants should be advised that streets on the route will be reopened to vehicular traffic after 9 a.m.

Parking

Event parking is available at Pearland High School (PHS) at 3775 S. Main St. We recommend using SH 35/Main St. to access Pearland High School for parking. Accessible parking will be available onsite to those with disabled license plates or hanging placards. For accessible parking, enter the park from John Lizer and Liberty Drive intersection. Event attendees are encouraged to utilize the sidewalks along Pearland Pkwy and crossing guards when walking from the PHS parking lots.

Prohibited Items

1K and 3K Participants: Registered participants are allowed to compete with a dog in 1K and 3K runs, however here is a partial list of what is NOT allowed on the course: runners going backward; runners not wearing a bib; bicycles; baby joggers; strollers; roller skates and rollerblades; and any wheeled vehicles other than wheelchairs.

5K Participants: Registered participants are NOT allowed to compete with a dog in the 5K. Here is a partial list of what is NOT allowed on the course: runners going backward; runners not wearing a bib; animals; bicycles; baby joggers; strollers; roller skates and rollerblades; and any wheeled vehicles other than wheelchairs. In accordance with USATF guidelines, wheelchair athletes must wear helmets.

Pearland Double

Participants can complete the 2020 Pearland Double Race Challenge by registering for H-E-B Pet & Owner Fun Run 3K or 5K and the Pearland Half Marathon or 10K over the course of the race weekend! All runners who register in this challenge will receive a THIRD finisher medal following the completion of your race Sunday morning.
