The Pearland Fire Department's Youth Firesetter Intervention Program (YFIP) is designed to provide education and intervention for children who have misused fire. The goal is to prevent fires, injuries, deaths and destruction of property. The program was started through the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office.

 About the Class      Did You Know?

 ► Children ages 18 and under accepted

 ► Classes are completely confidential

 ► Program consisted for two classes, each class 2-3 hours long

 ► At least one parent must attend with the child

 ► Upon class completion, four follow-ups with the child will be conducted over the next 12 months

 

 

 ► Children ages 10-16 can be charged with arson

► 2 out of 5 individuals charged with arson are under the age of 18 

► Parents of children charged with arson can be forced to pay restitution
