The City of Pearland Fire Department provides emergency ambulance service for the City of Pearland and ETJ.  Private ambulance companies provide a variety of non-emergency ambulance services to include inter-facility transfers and scheduled transports to and from skilled nursing facilities, dialysis clinics, and other outpatient facilities.

Private ambulances operating in the City must have a valid permit issued by the Pearland Fire Department. Ambulance permit regulations are described in ordinance 1220-21 linked below. 

Ambulance companies must apply for a permit and must undergo an ambulance inspection to receive a permit. Inspections are done by appointment only, which are typically scheduled on Wednesdays of each week. Dates may change and inspections may be cancelled due to City-observed holidays and other unforeseen events, as determined by the City or Fire Department.  

Permits must be renewed per calendar year and will expire each year on December 31st.

Application Process: All new and renewing companies will submit a full and complete application with all required fees at the time of submission. If any documents are missing, incomplete, not properly signed, expired, or if the application in any way is not 100% completed at the time of submission the application packet will be marked as incomplete and not approved. The company will be notified by email, and the application packet will be available for pickup and the company will be required to submit a new application packet. Starting with 2024 application packets the Pearland Fire Department will no longer accept hard copy applications and all required documents will need to be placed on a flash drive and submitted with one check for all required fees.
