The City of Pearland Fire Marshal’s Office would like to remind residents that open burning is strictly prohibited within the Pearland city limits and the surrounding Extraterritorial Jurisdiction. The area’s dry conditions increase the potential for grass and woodland fires that can threaten people and houses. While backyard cooking and barbecuing are permitted, use caution and never leave a charcoal or gas grill unattended. Remember to cool and extinguish coals before disposing and keep outdoor cooking devices a safe distance from buildings and homes.
“Residents should take measures to protect themselves and their homes by avoiding behavior that could lead to fires,” said Roland Garcia, City of Pearland Emergency Management Coordinator. “With everyone’s help we can ensure that Pearland is a safe place to live.”
Contact the City of Pearland Fire Marshal’s Office at 281.997.4650 for more information or dial 9-1-1 to report open burning.
