Bond Propositions

The 2023 bond election will be held on May 6th, 2023 with four separate propositions:

  1. Proposition "A" in the amount of $105,500,000 for drainage improvements
  2. Proposition "B" in the amount of $26,146,000 for street, bridge, and sidewalk improvements
  3. Proposition "C" in the amount of $33,705,000 for park and recreation purposes
  4. Proposition "D" in the amount of $15,959,000 for construction, repair, and improvement of Fire Station No.7

Proposition A - $105,500,000
Drainage Improvements Within the City

Veterans Drainage Improvements ($10,980,000) - installation of an underground stormwater conveyance system and replace the roadside ditches to connect to the stormwater system on Walnut Road.

Southwest Quadrant of Old Town (McLean to SH35 south of Broadway) ($10,179,000)- Drainage improvements for the subdivision including removal/replacement of driveways, sidewalks, and driveway culverts, utility adjustments, and regrading of the roadside ditches.

Shady Crest and Creek View Subdivision Drainage Improvement ($14,378,000) - Drainage improvements for the subdivision including removal/replacement of driveways, sidewalks, and driveway culverts, utility adjustments, and regrading of the roadside ditches.

Longwood Park (Roadside Ditch and Culvert) ($4,838,000) - Drainage improvements for the subdivision including removal/replacement of driveways, sidewalks, and driveway culverts, utility adjustments, and regrading of the roadside ditches.

Harkey Road Drainage (Broadway to Mary’s Creek) ($22,868,000) - removal of the existing two-lane asphalt roadway pavement and replacement with a new 4-lane divided boulevard curb and gutter concrete roadway with underground storm sewers.

Pine Hollow Drainage Improvements ($5,530,000) - installation of box culverts, storm pipes, and an additional outfall from Pine Tree Dr. to Mary’s Creek Bypass.

Fite Rd Drainage Improvement (Cullen to Harkey) ($11,581,000) - removal/replacement of driveways, driveway culverts, and the regrading of the roadside ditches.

Hatfield Road Drainage (FM 518 to Hickory Slough) ($4,631,000) - removal/replacement of driveways, driveway culverts, Storm system, inlets, utility adjustment, and regrading of the roadside ditches.

E. Plum Drainage (Old Alvin to Schlieder Dr) ($1,890,000) - removal/replacement of driveways, driveway culverts, storm system, inlets, utility adjustment, and regrading of the roadside ditches.

Isla Dr., N Galveston, Cheryl Dr. Drainage Improvements ($5,414,000) - removal of the existing concrete road, asphalt roadway pavement, roadside ditches, and associated drainage culverts, utility adjustment, and replacement with a City Standard concrete curb and gutter roadway with underground storm sewers.

Fite Road Drainage (Harkey to McLean) ($7,205,000) - removal/replacement of driveways, driveway culverts, and regrading of the roadside ditches.

Wagon Trail Road (South of Fite to Mary’s Creek) ($1,436,000) - removal/replacement of driveways, driveway culverts, and regrading of the roadside ditches.

Tranquility Lakes Detention Pump Station Rehabilitation and Generator ($4,470,000) - Upgrade the existing undersized storm water lift station and force main at Tranquility Lakes Detention.

Shadow Creek Ranch – Ocean Point Ct 100 Year Overflow at Cul-De-Sac ($100,000) - removal of the curb and grading of the area from the end of the cul-de-sac to the Clear Creek Relief ditch. 

Proposition B - $26,146,000
Street, Bridge, and Sidewalk Improvements in the City

Hughes Road - Pearland Parkway to City of Pearland City Limit ($10,746,000) - widen the existing 2 lane roadway to a 4-lane boulevard section.

Concrete Sidewalk Gaps and Replacement ($15,400,000) - replace sections of concrete sidewalks that would benefit from complete removal and replacement, within mature sections of the community and to analyze connectivity to adjacent subdivisions and commercial areas.  

Proposition C - $33,705,000
Parks and Recreation Purposes

Hickory Slough Sportsplex Phase II ($17,370,000) - addition of six lighted sports fields, a mix of turf and artificial fields, within the expanded detention pond, a pavilion, doubling the size of the parking lot, expanding the restroom and concession facilities, adding a small maintenance building, playground and lighting the remaining three existing fields.

Independence Park Phase II ($16,335,000) - incorporation of the adjacent detention pond as a usable park lake, landscaping, parking, restrooms, irrigation, lighting, internal trails and sidewalk connections, additional electrical service, permanent outlet installation, water spray park (recirculation system), additional playground space, and additional support infrastructure.

Construction, Repair, and Improvement of Fire Station No. 7

Fire Station #7 - Bailey Road ($15,959,000) - Construction of approximately 14,300 sq. ft. station to house one  4-person Engine Crew and one 2-person EMS Ambulance Crew, and 2 trainees. Station will include a generator, sleeping rooms, restrooms with showers, a kitchen dining area, a dayroom, a Lieutenant office, a station command office, & exercise room.
